BMS – I just want to sleep

Have you lost the fun and focus in your day to day activities? At night when you should be sleeping does your brain just keep churning? If so, you are suffering from BMS. Shift life frombusy mind syndrome Chaos to Calm by reducing BMS!

BMS, otherwise known as Busy Mind Syndrome, is the inability to turn your brain off at night or to stay focused during the day. An example is, as you try to sleep, you replay the day over and over or think about everything you need to do.

Busy mind syndrome makes it difficult to sleep and focus on your daily schedule and responsibilities.  Some of the common causes of BMS are mommy guilt, over-committed schedules, unrealistic expectations we create for ourselves, and the never ending to-do list. Let’s face it. Who doesn’t want a little less BMS in their lives?

Easier said than done. Here are three tips to help- give it a try:

  • Create realistic expectations on your daily to do list. Can you really do 50 things each day?
  • Read something light and enjoyable 15 to 30 minutes before bed to shift into a restful sleep?
